Hatsu 2025 Predictions
The first sumo tournament of 2025 is about to start and here are some predictions.
Although live sumo is just about to begin, you can still register for Fantasy Basho at Fantasizr.
With just a day until the actual sumo starts, it’s time for predictions. I did okay for Kyushu, guessing that it would largely be down to the Ozeki. I missed which one would win, putting Kotozakura behind the other two Ozeki. Still, the general shape of the basho was apparently in sight before the basho. I foresaw that Wakatakakage and Takerufuji would stand out. I called the poor performance of recent promotees.
So maybe the below is going to be good. I also went through and put numbers next to each name as a first pass. It was high by about 14 wins. There are 40 rikishi competing from Day One with Roga and Hokutofuji kyujo. That means if that injury situation holds, there are 300 wins available in the basho. I had to hammer the below chart into that number. In particular, I felt like I had to identify which rikishi would have the disaster basho in each third of the Banzuke.
You can see exactly how wrong I was after Day One’s action, probably. Until then, enjoy.
