Fantasy Basho is now up and available to play on Fantasizr! Fantasizr.com/sport/Fantasy-Basho-Haru-2026

The March basho will begin on March 8th, and while you decide who to select for your Day One lineup, enjoy this rundown of all 42 top division sumo wrestlers.
01 Yokozuna East Hoshoryu
Hoshoryu Tomokatsu | 豊昇龍 智勝
Tatsunami | Mongolia
Birthdate: May 22, 1999
Height: 188 cm | 6’ 2”
Weight: 150 kg | 330 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Yokozuna East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 10-5
Hoshoryu went 10-5 in January, which isn’t ideal for a Yokozuna except for his obvious knee injury. In many matches, Hoshoryu couldn’t recover once he was forced to balance on his right knee. The fact he got to double-digit wins is impressive, although he won’t do better if his knee isn’t improved.
02 Yokozuna West Onosato
Onosato Daiki | 大の里 泰輝
Nishonoseki | Ishikawa
Birthdate: June 7, 2000
Height: 192 cm | 6’ 4”
Weight: 188 kg | 414 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Yokozuna West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 10-5
Stop me if you’ve heard this one (actually, don’t, there are 40 more rikishi to go), but here’s a Yokozuna who got 10 wins in spite of a compromising injury. Onosato had a bad enough left shoulder that he was visibly wincing when he got a good push on it. A one-handed Onosato still collected 10 victories, which may make him even more terrifying for other rikishi.
03 Ozeki East Aonishiki
Aonishiki Arata | 安青錦 新大
Ajigawa | Ukraine
Birthdate: March 23, 2004
Height: 182 cm | 6’ 0”
Weight: 140 kg | 308 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Ozeki West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 12-3; Yusho
What else is there to say about Aonishiki? He will turn 22 the day after the basho ends, and he could have earned a Yokozuna promotion by thenif he gets another Yusho. Aonishiki gaining the rope seems like a longshot, but everything he’s done so far feels like a longshot. Even if he “falters,” his worst Makuuchi record is 11-4 and he should keep improving.
04 Ozeki West Kotozakura
Kotozakura Masahiro | 琴櫻 傑太
Sadogatake | Chiba
Birthdate: November 19, 1997
Height: 189 cm | 6’ 2”
Weight: 178 kg | 392 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Ozeki East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 8-7
Kotozakura had another 8-7, which means he once again remains an Ozeki for at least two more basho. He hasn’t been an outstanding Ozeki, but he has been able to remain an Ozeki. If he is 100%--and he has not been for over a year now--he is still young and fundamentally sound enough to demolish opposition.
05 Sekiwake East Kirishima
Kirishima Tetsuo | 霧島 鐵雄
Otowayama | Mongolia
Birthdate: April 24, 1996
Height: 186 cm | 6’ 1”
Weight: 149 kg | 328 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Sekiwake East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 11-4, Fighting Spirit Prize
Kirishima had his second straight 11-4 record with a Fighting Spirit Prize. A third in a row would likely see him return to Ozeki, which is one of the key subplots of Haru. Kirishima is not quite 30 and has looked in full control of his powers recently. There are two good Yokozuna and an excellent young Ozeki knocking on the door of promotion, but Kirishima is probably better than everyone else in sumo right now.
06 Sekiwake West Takayasu
Takayasu Akira | 高安 晃
Tagonoura | Ibaraki
Birthdate: February 28, 1990
Height: 188 cm | 6’ 2”
Weight: 172 kg | 378 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Sekiwake West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 8-7
For everyone still hoping for the Takayasu yusho--and who isn’t?--an 8-7 is slightly disappointing. It’s worth remembering this will be a 36 year old by the time Haru rolls around and he maintained a Sekiwake rank. Let’s just keep celebrating the Old Bear as long as he can keep it up.
07 Komusubi East Wakamotoharu
Wakamotoharu Minato | 若元春 港
Arashio | Fukushima
Birthdate: October 5, 1993
Height: 187 cm | 6’ 2”
Weight: 150 kg | 330 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Komusubi West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 8-7
Wakamotoharu landed at 8-7 after starting Hatsu 0-5, which is both wildly impressive and keeps him at Komusubi. The classic scrappy late-bloomer, Wakamotoharu feels both like someone who shouldn’t be hanging with the Sanyaku at 32 and like he has a few more good years left.
08 Komusubi West Atamifuji
Atamifuji Sakutaro | 熱海富士 朔太郎
Isegahama | Shizuoka
Birthdate: September 3, 2002
Height: 187 cm | 6’ 2”
Weight: 195 kg | 429 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #4 West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 12-3; Jun-Yusho; Fighting Spirit Prize
Atamifuji got himself to a playoff for the yusho, which he lost to Aonishiki. After starting 0-2, Atamifuji’s only losses were to Aonishiki. The big man from Isegahama beat both Yokozuna in a stretch that saw him get back to simple sumo and make his size a problem for the other guy. If this Atamifuji can stick around, he’ll be trouble for everyone.
09 Maegashira #1 East Wakatakakage
Wakatakakage Atsushi | 若隆景 渥
Arashio | Fukushima
Birthdate: December 6, 1994
Height: 183 cm | 6’ 0”
Weight: 138 kg | 304 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #2 West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 9-6
Wakatakakage finished at 9-6 by getting underwater against the Sanyaku and then beating four Maegashira over the final four days. At this point, Wakatakakage isn’t quite as good as the very best sekitori but can hang with everybody else. No matter who he’s facing, he’ll be a pain to beat.
10 Maegashira #1 West Yoshinofuji
Yoshinofuji Naoya | 義ノ富士 直哉
Isegahama | Kumamoto
Birthdate: June 25, 2001
Height: 183 cm | 6’ 0”
Weight: 159 kg | 350 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #1 West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 8-7, Outstanding Performance Prize
Over 4 Makuuchi basho, Yoshinofuji has posted 11-4, 8-7, 9-6, and 8-7 records, which gets him almost to Sanyaku. He toppled both Hoshoryu and Onosato in January, so he can handle the competition. To officially make the named ranks, he needs to consistently be at his very best across all 15 days.
11 Maegashira #2 East Fujinokawa
Fujinokawa Seigo | 藤ノ川成剛
Isenoumi | Kyoto
Birthdate: February 22, 2005
Height: 177 cm | 5’ 10”
Weight: 122 kg | 268 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #7 West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 10-5
Fujinokawa is finally 21, which means he’s less shockingly youthful now but still undersized for sumo. Despite all that, he won 10 matches with a variety of techniques and consistently showing off some surprising strength. In a world where Aonishiki is charging towards Yokozuna, we shouldn’t overlook how good Fujinokawa has been at a young age.
12 Maegashira #2 West Churanoumi
Churanoumi Yoshihisa | 美ノ海 義久
Kise | Okinawa
Birthdate: May 6, 1993
Height: 178 cm | 5’ 10”
Weight: 153 kg | 337 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #5 West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 9-6
Churanoumi establishing himself as a very good Maegashira despite average athleticism and size for the division is kind of amazing. His on-dohyo work is usually unspectacular, and he hasn’t had a real contender basho, but he’s really good and doesn’t beat himself.
13 Maegashira #3 East Hiradoumi
Hiradoumi Yuki | 平戸海 雄貴
Sakaigawa | Nagasaki
Birthdate: April 20, 2000
Height: 178 cm | 5’ 10”
Weight: 140 kg | 308 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #6 East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 9-6
Hiradoumi went 9-6 in January, and more interestingly won 8 matches by yorikiri. He’s a ball of energy whose goal seems to just be more intense than the other guy, but maybe he’s found a good focus. He also didn’t face anybody above komusubi, which is worth keeping in mind for March.
14 Maegashira #3 West Oho
Oho Konosuke | 王鵬 幸之介
Otake | Tokyo
Birthdate: February 14, 2000
Height: 191 cm | 6’ 3”
Weight: 180 kg | 396 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Komusubi East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 4-11
Oho had a terrible Hatsu basho, even if he did manage to beat Aonishiki and Kirishima. The good Oho and the bad Oho don’t look that different, except that he can’t seem to figure out how to turn a match he hasn’t won from the start. He’s fallen out of Sanyaku again, but he could easily be back in a basho or two.
15 Maegashira #4 East Daieisho
Daieisho Hayato | 大栄翔 勇人
Oitekaze | Saitama
Birthdate: November 10, 1993
Height: 183 cm | 6’ 0”
Weight: 166 kg | 365 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #4 East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 7-8
Daieisho was 1-6 after 7 matches, but somehow turned it around on Day 8 with a kinboshi over Hoshoryu. (Hatsu 2026 was odd...) He is likely still recovering from the injury that kept him out of July’s basho, but his closing kick shows he’s still capable of competing.
16 Maegashira #4 West Takanosho
Takanosho Nobuaki | 隆の勝 伸明
MInatogawa | Chiba
Birthdate: November 14, 1994
Height: 184 cm | 6’ 0”
Weight: 171 kg | 376 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #3 East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 5-10
Takanosho’s 5-10 means he gets a demotion to a rank that doesn’t have to face so many Sanyaku men. That’s a good thing for the Minatogawa man. He has a good base of pushing-thrusting skills that just doesn’t work against the most skilled men in sumo.
17 Maegashira #5 East Abi
Abi Masatora | 阿炎 政虎
Shikoroyama | Saitama
Birthdate: May 4, 1994
Height: 188 cm | 6’ 2”
Weight: 165 kg | 363 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #12 West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 10-5
Abi picked up 10 wins and was even in the yusho race for a little bit during Hatsu. It didn’t last, and he didn’t look great doing it. Of course, if he can get double-digit wins while seemingly avoiding head-on sumo that’s a sign he can keep going. I guess.
18 Maegashira #5 West Kotoshoho
Kotoshoho Yoshinari | 琴勝峰 吉成
Sadogatake | Chiba
Birthdate: August 26, 1999
Height: 191 cm | 6’ 3”
Weight: 173 kg | 381 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #10 West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 9-6
Kotoshoho won 9 matches with 7 different kimarite. At his best, he is very good--don’t forget he won the July yusho--but his best is rarely there. He does get all over the dohyo and is liable to do almost anything, so he’s a fun watch.
19 Maegashira #6 East Ichiyamamoto
Ichiyamamoto Daiki | 一山本 大生
Hanaregoma | Hokkaido
Birthdate: October 1, 1993
Height: 188 cm | 6’ 2”
Weight: 157 kg | 345 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #1 East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 4-11
Quite clearly, Ichiyamamoto could not handle being at Maegashira #1. He got rocked to the tune of 11 losses, frequently not even being in a match. This is a veteran who has a plan out there, so the demotion will help him survive better against a less difficult schedule.
20 Maegashira #6 West Onokatsu
Onokatsu Kazuhiro | 阿武剋 一弘
Onomatsu | Mongolia
Birthdate: May 5, 2000
Height: 185 cm | 6’ 1”
Weight: 174 kg | 383 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #6 West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 7-8
Onokatsu has now gone 7-8 over three basho, all as a Maegashira #6. It’s something, and he has a chance to make it four in a row. He did also have back-to-back fusensho on Days 12 and 13, which saved him from a real demotion. He seems to just be a solid Maegashira, but he also should be entering his prime and maybe could improve.
21 Maegashira #7 East Oshoma
Oshoma Degi | 欧勝馬 出気
Naruto | Mongolia
Birthdate: April 9, 1997
Height: 190 cm | 6’ 3”
Weight: 164 kg | 361 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #7 East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 7-8
Oshoma’s 7-8 was a somewhat steadying basho after a 4-11 in November. He still fights like his goal is to keep the other guy at arm’s length. Not only is he pushing and slap down heavy, but he lost once by “tsukite”--the inadvertent hand touch down non-technique.
22 Maegashira #7 West Hakunofuji
Hakunofuji Tetsuya | 伯ノ富士 哲也
Isegahama | Tottori
Birthdate: August 22, 2003
Height: 181 cm | 5’ 11”
Weight: 155 kg | 341 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #3 West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 5-8-2
The first official basho as Hakunofuji did not go well for the former Hakuoho. He was underwater for the basho when he pulled out on Day Thirteen with a big toe injury--which came just two days after he seemed to injure his knee on the dohyo. Despite the new name, the biggest concern for Hakunofuji remains his health.
23 Maegashira #8 East Ura
Ura Kazuki | 宇良 和輝
Kise | Osaka
Birthdate: June 22, 1992
Height: 175 cm | 5’ 9”
Weight: 134 kg | 295 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #2 East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 4-11
Ura didn’t do well in January, and his injury history combined with his dramatic brand of sumo could mean he won’t age gracefully. He did still win one match by katasukashi, while also losing one by sakatottari, so he’s still delivering exciting matches while on the dohyo.
24 Maegashira #8 West Shodai
Shodai Naoya | 正代 直也
Tokitsukaze | Kumamoto
Birthdate: November 5, 1991
Height: 184 cm | 6’ 0”
Weight: 169 kg | 372 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #8 East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 7-8
Shodai went a solid 7-8 at Maegashira #8, so he is probably good sticking around here for awhile. Sumo’s Lord of Chaos is 34 and no longer at his Ozeki best, but he’s capable enough to handle most lower Maegashira. May he keep brightening each basho for a few more years.
25 Maegashira #9 East Tokihayate
Tokihayate Hideki | 時疾風 秀喜
Tokitsukaze | Miyagi
Birthdate: August 25, 1996
Height: 179 cm | 5’ 10”
Weight: 132 kg | 290 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #10 East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 8-7
Tokihayate’s second straight kachi-koshi proves he can hang around as a Maegashira. It’s hard not to think he doesn’t have a ceiling somehwere, and enough promotions could expose him at some point.
26 Maegashira #9 West Tamawashi
Tamawashi Ichiro | 玉鷲 一朗
Kataonami | Mongolia
Birthdate: November 16, 1984
Height: 189 cm | 6’ 2”
Weight: 179 kg | 394 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #5 East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 5-10
5-10 isn’t good, but Tamawashi is also an age at which literally no one has ever competed in Makuuchi before. The Iron Man isn’t tossing his weight around against the very best as well as he used to, but there’s no reason to think he can’t still hang with lower Maegashira.
27 Maegashira #10 East Gonoyama
Gonoyama Toki | 豪ノ山 登輝
Takekuma | Osaka
Birthdate: April 7, 1998
Height: 178 cm | 5’ 10”
Weight: 164 kg | 361 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #9 East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 7-8
Gonoyama won 7 matches and had a chance for a final day make-koshi, but his absurd bias towards pushing was on full display again. He won 6 matches by oshidashi and the seventh by hatakikomi. The way to beat Gonoyama seems to be to grab a hold, because he can’t do anything in a grappling bout.
28 Maegashira #10 West Roga
Roga Tokiyoshi | 狼雅 外喜義
Futagoyama | Russia
Birthdate: March 2, 1999
Height: 184 cm | 6’ 0”
Weight: 159 kg | 350 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #9 West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 7-8
Sumo’s resident Russian (but born near Mongolia) is another one of the mid-Maegashira who was just below .500 in January. He’s kind of the opposite of Gonoyama--being a tall rikishi who is always looking to grab a hold. Hilariously, he did beat Gonoyama by oshidashi in January.
29 Maegashira #11 East Shishi
Shishi Masaru | 獅司 大
Ikazuchi | Ukraine
Birthdate: January 16, 1997
Height: 193 cm | 6’ 4”
Weight: 169 kg | 372 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #14 East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 9-6
Shishi was 8-2 after Day Ten, but cratered with a much tougher schedule over the final third. He’s learned how to use his length to keep attacks away from most rikishi, but he may not be able to do it against the very best. That’s no help for anyone ranked around him.
30 Maegashira #11 West Oshoumi
Oshoumi Seiya | 欧勝海 成矢
Naruto | Ishikawa
Birthdate: May 12, 2001
Height: 184 cm | 6’ 0”
Weight: 148 kg | 326 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #16 West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 10-5
Oshoumi was on the edge of the yusho race for much of Hatsu. He seems to literally be able to handle any lower Maegashira, preferring to toss around opponents if he gets the chance.
31 Maegashira #12 East Asakoryu
Asakoryu Takuma | 朝紅龍 琢馬
Takasago | Osaka
Birthdate: September 24, 1998
Height: 178 cm | 5’ 10”
Weight: 123 kg | 271 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #15 West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 9-6
Asakoryu now has 7 Makuuchi basho under his belt, and he holds a 51-54 career record as a Maegashira. Still, a 9-6 after an 8-7, plus being dead on his his prime, means he may be sticking for a bit. In general, a muscular mighty mite who likes pushing with the occasional throw makes Makuuchi more exciting.
32 Maegashira #12 West Asanoyama
Asanoyama Hiroki | 朝乃山 広暉
Takasago | Toyama
Birthdate: March 1, 1994
Height: 188 cm | 6’ 2”
Weight: 170 kg | 374 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #16 East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 9-6
The former Ozeki looked like he may be a yusho contender over the first week, but couldn’t keep pace with the tougher schedule he got in the second week. Still, it’s good to have Assnoyama back in Makuuchi. His left hand grabbing the mawashi is still game over for most Maegashira.
33 Maegashira #13 East Tobizaru
Tobizaru Masaya | 翔猿 正也
Oitekaze | Tokyo
Birthdate: April 24, 1992
Height: 173 cm | 5’ 8”
Weight: 140 kg | 308 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #13 East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 7-8
Tobizaru nearly held serve with a 7-8, picking up wins on Days 14 and 15 to avoid disaster. In fact, he reversed a 1-6 opening week, so the Flying Monkey can possibly rack up wins in this part of the Banzuke.
34 Maegashira #13 West Fujiseiun
Fujiseiun Tatsuki | 藤青雲 龍輝
Fujishima | Kumamoto
Birthdate: December 5, 1997
Height: 185 cm | 6’ 1”
Weight: 148 kg | 326 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Juryo #1 West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 11-4
Fujiseiun made his Juryo debut in 2023 as a hotshotted University wrestler. He’s only making his Makuuchi debut now after injury issues and slow climbs up the Banzuke. He could be solid, with a preference for yorikiri, but he may also need a few tries to get a kachi-koshi.
35 Maegashira #14 East Chiyoshoma
Chiyoshoma Fujio | 千代翔馬 富士雄
Kokonoe | Mongolia
Birthdate: July 20, 1991
Height: 184 cm | 6’ 0”
Weight: 140 kg | 308 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #11 East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 6-9
Chiyoshoma went 6-9, which places him closer to the Juryo demotion range. He’s done it before and come back, but he’s also 34 and not getting any calmer as he ages. Chiyoshoma has taken Japanese citizenship, normally a sign a foreigner intends to become an elder, so he may be on retirement watch as well.
36 Maegashira #14 West Nishikifuji
Nishikifuji Ryusei | 錦富士 隆聖
Isegahama | Aomori
Birthdate: July 22, 1996
Height: 184 cm | 6’ 0”
Weight: 160 kg | 352 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #11 West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 6-6-3
Nishikifuji withdrew from the January basho on Day Twelve, but he didn’t get a new injury. Instead, Isegahama-oyakata said he was struggling with recurring neck and back pain. That is not a good sign for anyone, but especially for someone whose sumo is reliant on speed and flexibility.
37 Maegashira #15 East Midorifuji
Midorifuji Kazunari | 翠富士 一成
Isegahama | Shizuoka
Birthdate: August 30, 1996
Height: 174 cm | 5’ 9”
Weight: 117 kg | 257 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #12 East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 6-9
Midorifuji was back to being too into the katasukashi. The under-shoulder-swing-down is his signature move (he used it in about a quarter of his wins), but everyone seems to know not to let Midorifuji grab an arm. In fact, he got thrown three times in his losses, showing its better to toss him around as he’s getting in katasukashi position.
38 Maegashira #15 West Mitakeumi
Mitakeumi Hisashi | 御嶽海 久司
Dewanoumi | Nagano
Birthdate: December 25, 1992
Height: 181 cm | 5’ 11”
Weight: 177 kg | 389 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #14 West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 7-8
Mitakeumi just hangs on to a Makuuchi spot after a 7-8. Although the former Ozeki isn’t that old, just 33, he does feel like he’s hitting the end of the road. Watching him walk is painful, and mounting the dohyo can only be worse.
39 Maegashira #16 East Asahakuryu
Asahakuryu Taro | 朝白龍 太郎
Takasago | Mongolia
Birthdate: January 8, 1999
Height: 185 cm | 6’ 1”
Weight: 153 kg | 337 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #17 East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 8-7
Asahakuryu survived—winning three matches to close the basho, two of which were against Juryo opponents. Still, that kept his spot as a Maegashira and he gets another chance in Makuuchi for March.
40 Maegashira #16 West Kinbozan
Kinbozan Haruki | 金峰山 晴樹
Kise | Kazakhstan
Birthdate: June 24, 1997
Height: 195 cm | 6’ 5”
Weight: 175 kg | 385 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Maegashira #8 West
Hatsu 2026 Record: 4-11
Kinbozan is one of the few rikishi who can use his size on almost anyone, but he’s definitely still figuring out how to be more than big and athletic. His four wins in January were over Gonoyama, Tokihayate, Onokatsu, and Tamawashi, none of whom had a dominating Hatsu basho.
41 Maegashira #17 East Fujiryoga
Fujiryoga Masaharu | 藤凌駕 雅治
Fujishima | Aichi
Birthdate: February 27, 2003
Height: 180 cm | 5’ 11”
Weight: 179 kg | 394 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Juryo #3 East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 9-6
Fujiryoga is a recent University graduate who has easily gotten through the lower divisions since debuting as a Makushita Tsukedashi a year ago. He prefers oshidashi, but more in the blow-the-other-guy-back-immediately way than parrying thrusts and slaps. Get used to him, because he should stick around a while.
42 Maegashira #17 West Kotoeiho
Kotoeiho Taiki | 琴栄峰 太希
Sadogatake | Chiba
Birthdate: July 8, 2003
Height: 184 cm | 6’ 0”
Weight: 142 kg | 312 lbs
Hatsu 2026 Rank: Juryo #1 East
Hatsu 2026 Record: 8-7
After going 8-7, 9-6, and 8-7 in three Juryo basho, Kotoeiho is back in Makuuchi. He isn’t spectacular despite great athleticism, but he’s just 22 and clearly one of the 50 best rikishi in sumo now. A slight jump in his level means he’s a firm Maegashira with the potential for more.
