Announcing the Basho Books
We've got something new for subscribers--a compilation of writing about the Haru 2026 Basho.
Fantasy Basho is absolutely a labor of love, and I am here because of everyone who plays the game, reads the posts, and engages during every tournament. I’ve kept it going through multiple big life changes. During a global pandemic, after the birth of my child, and when I was part of massive corporate layoffs, sumo was a refuge.
I am an unusual sumo commentator. I have never been to Japan. I don’t speak Japanese. I have learned sumo by writing about sumo, and I want to be a way for others to learn about sumo. I hope you have learned a little more about some aspect of the sport by reading Fantasy Basho. Whatever happens, I will keep plugging away at this.
I do greatly appreciate my Paid Subscribers, because I would love to be able to make Fantasy Basho my main priority. Every new Paid Subscriber allows me to do a little more. With the just-concluded Haru 2026 basho, I have a little more for Paid Subscribers. I have compiled all of the posts for the most recent tournament into one volume. This is a Paid Subscribers all have a PDF of this book in their email now. They will get every future basho book in their email as well. Anyone who becomes a Paid Subscriber from now on will receive the most recent basho book.
If you can’t make being a Paid Subscriber work now, I completely understand. Keep reading us here. A new regular post is coming tomorrow, which reflects on how well the Fantasy Basho Power Rankings are built.
Thanks, as always, for reading.
